Description

Beginning in late November 1995, Olovo School Meals project is a feeding program based in fourteen schools and provides one highly nutritious hot meal a day to over 2700 school children. Olovo is a town situated within a valley with only one access road and was not until recently on the northern supply road. Consequently conditions in the area are dire and communications very poor.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Olovo (60km north of Sarajevo)

Duration

3 months (from November 1995 to March 1996)

Objectives

  • to provide one meal every day to 2700 school children in Olovo and the surrounding area.
  • to encourage children to attend school during the winter.
  • to contribute to the re-start of local economy by purchasing materials locally

Specific requirements

  • 26 tonnes of flour
  • kitchen equipment (stoves, tables, crockery)
